Finalist Categories

Best Use of IBM Technology in a Business Solution by a Global Consultant and Integrator Business Partner

Solution Name: Customer Value Creation
The Customer Value Creation project at Time Warner Cable is designed to increase profitability by leveraging customer billing and preference information in innovative new ways. The heart of the project is a campaign management engine that provides targeted promotion information to all TWC customer service representatives so they can proactively up-sell new services and on-demand offerings. Working with IBM and Chordiant, Capgemini created a reliable, scalable environment for the Chordiant product suite running on pSeries as the technology platform for the Customer Value Creation initiative. According to Time Warner Cable, its relationship with Capgemini has helped position IT as a contributor to the success of the company, both in the usual sense of data management and availability, cost management and systems implementations, and in the ability to affect revenue.

Capgemini was chosen as a finalist because its implementation of the Customer Value Creation solution represents a global industry solution that displaced a rival server vendor and gave the customer a measurable competitive advantage.

Solution Name: ePOS @ Matalan
When a large UK fashion retailer sought a point of sale system that was more responsive and offered better handling of staff management and store promotion functions, Capgemini delivered a tailor-made solution. To help the store carry out its ePOS (electronic point of sale) replacement program, Capgemini selected the best possible ePOS solution and transformed the entire store environment to meet the client’s requirements. The IBM Retail Environment for SUSE Linux was chosen from four possible operating system options, making this company the first retailer worldwide to go live with IRES. Today the store not only has an open, reliable infrastructure that can be maintained from a central location, it has also realised a 40% savings over its legacy architecture for license fees and ongoing support.

Capgemini was chosen as a finalist for its pioneering efforts in helping a leading retailer become the first IRES user worldwide. Judges also noted that the installation managed to demonstrate quantifiable cost savings despite the size and complexity of the project.
